Menina “Eclipse”
8th Edition of Meninas Madrid Gallery
Exhibited at Calle Serrano 26, Madrid
Design is my passion.
As an interior architect, I work with the materials that shape my creative universe: iron, natural stone, steel, lacquers…
I wanted to bring that same essence to this Menina, transforming it into a sculptural piece reinterpreted as a lamp, where light becomes both a symbol and a message.
In the artwork, I used two types of marble, precisely divided to represent the exact moment of the eclipse. The head of the Menina—designed as the lamp’s shade—is made of iron lacquered in gold. The golden lacquered steel strips that embrace the figure introduce subtle sparkles, reminding us that light always finds a way to reveal itself.
Why Eclipse?
Because even when shadows appear in life, our inner light never goes out. The lamp symbolizes that inner light we all carry within us. The division into two halves represents the instant of the eclipse in which the shadow passes… but the light remains.
